Statement from state Representative Derek Miller (D-Warren) his resignation from the House of Representatives and his appointment as Macomb County Treasurer:

“Today, I’m announcing that I am stepping aside as the representative of Michigan’s 28th House District to become the treasurer of Macomb County. I have enjoyed my time in the Legislature, and I will forever be grateful for the trust that my constituents put in me. I look forward to serving them — and all of Macomb County’s residents — in my new role as their county treasurer. Serving the people of my district was always my top priority in the state House, and serving the people of our county will continue to be my priority in my new role. I will be sworn in as Macomb County Treasurer today at 1:30 p.m. in Judge Kathryn George’s courtroom in the Macomb County Court Building, 40 N. Main St. in Mt. Clemens, by Michigan Supreme Court Justice David Viviano.”
