#MIWeekend – March 17-19: Parades and the Time of Cholera

If you don’t get enough of St. Patrick’s Day fun on Friday, head over to Muskegon, where the St. Patrick’s Day Parade steps off at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Or learn a bit about the sicker side of history at a new exhibit at the Monroe County Historical Museum that takes a look at the effects of the cholera and Spanish flu epidemics in that community.

Set some time aside to speak with our state representatives, too. They’re holding several events across the state this week, including:

Friday, March 17

  • Coffee Hour with Rep. Tim Sneller from 8-9:30 a.m. at Palace Family Restaurant located at 5235 S. Saginaw Road in Grand Blanc
  • Community Coffee Hour with Rep. Winnie Brinks from 8:30-10 a.m. at New Beginnings Restaurant at 1601 Alpine in Grand Rapids

Saturday, March 18

  • Town Hall with House Democratic Floor Leader Rep. Christine Greig at Farmington Hills City Hall, 31555 W. 11 Mile Road in Farmington Hills. Sign-in and hospitality from 10-10:30 a.m.; town hall from 10:30 a.m.–noon

Monday, March 20

  • Coffee and Conversation with Rep. Henry Yanez from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Tim Hortons, 29030 Van Dyke Ave. in Warren
  • March 6 O’Clock Series with Rep. Leslie Love. This week’s topic: Foreclosure prevention from 6-7:30 p.m. at First Baptist World Changers, 22575 W. Eight Mile Road in Detroit
  • Coffee and Conversation with Rep. John Chirkun from 9 to 10 a.m. at Lori’s Cafe, 15188 E. 13 Mile Road (corner of Hayes) in Warren
  • Coffee Hour with Rep. Jeremy Moss from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in room 223 in the Southfield Parks and Recreation Building, 26000 Evergreen Road in Southfield

Thursday, March 23

  • Coffee Hour with Rep. Donna Lasinski from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Northfield Township Office, Board Room, 8350 Main St. in Whitmore Lake
